The Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF) has plans to hold its first national summit from August 31 to September 2, 2022.
According to the Otunba Olusegun Runsewe-led NGF, the summit will take place at Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Abuja, where members will discuss current issues related to the development and growth of golf in Nigeria.
The NGF has announced that the summit, supported by Royal Ceramics, Polaris Bank, Anchor Insurance, AIT, NTA and Golf Garden, will be led by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of IBB Golf and Country Club, Gen IBM Haruna (rtd) , with Youth and Sports Development Minister, Sunday Dare, as the special guest of honour.
According to NGF, the summit expects more than 70 golf club captains from across the country, along with other key stakeholders to enable them to chart the way forward for the sport across the country and network with international bodies within the country. golf room.
Runsewe said the summit would also open a new network for golfers across the country, most notably on the World Handicap System (WHS), which the NGF is working out to integrate the Nigerian golfing community around the world.
He also noted that NGF would like to use the platform to boost the support and understanding of golf captains from around the country by developing the game and taking it to a new level.
“As the top golf organization in Nigeria, NGF is developing a plan that will open up new opportunities for emerging golfers. We are working on the youth development program. The federation is enthusiastic about Iyeneobong Essien and would like to congratulate the 16-year-old on her outstanding performance at the Champion of Champions World Golf Championship in Northern Ireland, where she finished first.
